Mercedes-Benz of Richmond in the 2023 Thalhimer Challenge

Mercedes-Benz of Richmond proudly sponsored the 30th annual Thalhimer Challenge over the weekend at Westwood Country Club and Salisbury Country Club. The Thalhimer Challenge is Richmond’s largest and most anticipated tennis event.

We congratulate Salisbury Country Club for emerging as the tournament winner, where 1,000 players participated in almost 400 doubles matches throughout the weekend. Each club fielded doubles teams ranging from amateurs to former Division I college players.

Added this year was a Thursday night kick-off that brought together all 12 clubs to begin the competition with a celebratory atmosphere. Teams cheered for their top players while enjoying food trucks, posing for team pictures, and enjoying live music.

“Richmond is a great tennis town—and this weekend showed how our tennis community can come together and battle it out for bragging rights between friends,” said JP LaFors, Richmond Tennis Association president, who went on to say, “Mercedes-Benz sponsors the RTA and supports how the organization creates pathways for juniors to learn the game, runs tournaments for adults, and helps bring tennis to underserved youth and communities in Richmond.”
